US markets face another pivotal week of corporate earnings beginning August 3, with five heavyweight names worth a combined $2.8 trillion set to report results that could reshape sentiment across pharma, semiconductors, and industrials.
Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY), the world’s largest pharmaceutical company at roughly $1.03 trillion and trading around $1,152 a share, headlines the week when it reports before Wednesday’s open.
According to Yahoo Finance, analysts expect EPS of $6.71 on revenue of $20.26 billion, up 30.2% year-on-year, as the GLP-1 giant’s Mounjaro and Zepbound franchises continue to fuel growth despite mounting competitive pressure from Novo Nordisk.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD), now valued near $778 billion and changing hands around $477 a share after a blistering 12-month rally, reports Tuesday after the close.
Consensus estimates point to EPS of $1.29, with revenue tracking toward management’s own guidance of $11.2 billion (±$300 million) — implying roughly 46% annual growth as AI-chip demand accelerates.
Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT), worth close to $383 billion and trading near $815 a share, also reports Tuesday. Wall Street forecasts EPS of $6.25, up 32.4% from a year ago, on revenue of $19.31 billion, with data-centre power demand emerging as an unexpected tailwind for the industrial bellwether.
Merck (NYSE: MRK), at roughly $322 billion and priced around $130.55, reports Tuesday before the bell. Yahoo Finance shows a consensus loss of $0.26 per share against revenue of $16.33 billion, up 3.3% year-on-year, as Keytruda’s oncology strength offsets Gardasil softness.
Rounding out the top five, Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) — now near $295 billion and trading around $123 a share — kicks off the week Monday after the close. Analysts expect EPS of $0.35 on revenue of roughly $1.8 billion, extending its AI-fuelled growth streak.
With volatility elevated heading into results, traders should expect sharp intraday swings across these five bellwethers.
