Kavango Resources announced Friday that it has appointed Brett Grist as Chief Operating Officer.

Kavango said Grist, who will also join the board of Kavango as an executive director, brings valuable operational and technical skills to the company's executive team.

Grist has worked in geological and management capacities as CEO, Director, and Exploration Manager throughout his career. He worked for Reunion Mining PLC and CASA Mining Ltd in Africa, encompassing projects in Mali, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Mozambique.

“Botswana is a highly attractive mining investment destination, and the combination of Kavango's team and an exciting exploration holding of significant scale, focussed on metals that are in increasing demand, means that the company is well placed to deliver exploration success,” said Grist.

He most recently worked in the UK, where he oversaw the delineation of a significant high-grade metal resource for Strategic Minerals' Redmoor tin-tungsten-copper project.

“We have made a great deal of progress building a much more robust foundation for the company over 2021. Brett's appointment will significantly strengthen Kavango, as we grow the business more ambitiously in 2022,” said David Smith, Chairman of Kavango Resources.

The company said it has agreed to award Grist two grants of employee share options as part of the appointment.

Kavango shares are down over 1.5% at 5p so far Friday.
