The airline intends to start offering new flights from Tirana to Edinburgh, Birmingham, Liverpool (UK), Sofia (Bulgaria), Bucharest (Romania), Prague (Czech Republic), and Krakow (Poland) in the upcoming winter season.

Wizz Air’s expansion of its network means that the airline will start offering over 100 extra weekly flights this winter season. The expansion also leaves Wizz Air well-positioned to generate more revenues over time as it capitalises on rising demand for short-haul flights within Europe.

Furthermore, the airline took delivery of its first A321neo aircraft from the Airbus assembly plant in Tianjin, China. This is the first aircraft Wizz Air received from a non-European assembly plant. The aircraft is also the first to be delivered to a European airline customer from the Tianjin plant.

Wizz Air was also voted the Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline for the third consecutive year at the World Finance Sustainability Awards 2023. The airline maintains extremely low CO2 emissions per passenger/km among all its competitors.

The airline reported average CO2 emissions per passenger/km of 52.5 grams per passenger/km for the 12 months to 30 June 2023. The airline’s June CO2 emissions were 51.5 grams per passenger/km (8.4% lower than last year).

Wizz Air prides itself on being the fastest-growing European ultra-low-cost airline and one of the most sustainable and currently operates a fleet of 184 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.

The airline offers travellers superior service at very low fares making it the preferred choice for 51.1 million passengers in the fiscal year ended 3 March 2023.
