Empresaria Shares Rise As Staffing Group Lifts Profit Guidance

Empresaria Group (LON: EMR), the AIM-listed international staffing group, saw its shares rise sharply today after unaudited interim results showed net fee income growing for the first half-year since 2022 and profit up sharply, prompting management to raise full-year guidance.

The shares were trading at 26.5p in early trade, up 6% from yesterday’s close of 25p, within a 52-week range of 18p to 40p.

The results, published before today’s market open, showed net fee income of £24.5m for the six months to 30 June, up 5% year-on-year and up 10% at constant currency. Management said this marked the first half-year of net fee income growth for the group since 2022. Adjusted operating profit rose 135% to £4.0m from £1.7m a year earlier, while adjusted pre-tax profit climbed 256% to £3.2m.

On the back of that improvement, Empresaria raised its full-year adjusted pre-tax profit guidance to at least £6.2m, up from the £5.2m floor it had given only a month earlier on 28 July, and roughly 55% above the £4.0m adjusted pre-tax profit recorded for the whole of 2025. The upgrade was driven by growth across two of the group’s three divisions: global workforce solutions net fee income rose 26% to £8.1m and operational outsourcing rose 13% to £8.4m, while specialist recruitment fell 13% to £8.7m but swung back to a small £0.2m adjusted operating profit from a £0.3m loss a year earlier.

Chief executive Nigel Marsh said: “We are really pleased with the return of net fee income growth this year, which coupled with disciplined cost management has resulted in a significant improvement in profitability.”

The Board is not recommending an interim dividend, in line with prior years, and net debt stood at £17.0m at the end of June, broadly unchanged from £17.1m at the end of 2025. With the specialist recruitment arm still the weakest of the group’s three divisions, the scale of today’s re-rating will depend on whether the improved momentum carries through to the full year.
