Thruvision Shares Surge on First-Ever Canadian Government Order

Thruvision Group (LON: THRU), the AIM-listed maker of people-screening security scanners, saw its shares surge in early trade today after announcing its first-ever Canadian government customer, its first deployment into the country’s entrance-security market.

The stock rose as much as 18.37% to an intraday high of 1.60p, up from Wednesday’s close of 1.225p, before changing hands at 1.45p. The move takes the shares back towards the top of their 52-week range of 0.50p to 2.00p, on volume of 28.7 million shares.

The Canadian order covers Thruvision’s battery-powered 8108 WalkTHRU system, which will be installed at a municipal building to screen visitors entering council chambers. Thruvision’s previous business in Canada had been focused on retail loss-prevention, making this the company’s first move into government entrance security there. Alongside the Canadian win, the company disclosed a batch of other new orders from retail distribution customers in the UK, Europe and the US, plus a new government customer in Europe covering its WalkTHRU and SpotCHECK product lines.

No financial value was disclosed for the Canadian order or the other bundled orders, so the rally reflects markets pricing in broader order-book momentum rather than a quantified earnings impact. Thruvision’s revenue rose to £6.02m in the year to March 2026 from £4.16m a year earlier, though the company remained loss-making, with losses narrowing to £3.63m from £4.6m. The passive terahertz technology behind its scanners detects concealed items on people walking through checkpoints without physical contact, and is used across retail, corrections, aviation and entrance-security markets.

Chief executive Victoria Balchin described the Canadian contract as an important milestone for the company and pointed to further opportunities with municipalities across the country, according to reported comments.

Thruvision remains a sub-£10m microcap trading on modest volumes, where a single, still-unquantified contract win can move the shares sharply in either direction.
